Bnp chief Begum Khaleda Zia who resumed campaigning for her party-supported candidates in the mayoral elections in Dhaka and Chittagong demanded deployment of the army for ensuring peaceful conduct of the election.
He refrained from campaigning on Thursday as her own car and those of her security force and close aides had been under repair following Wednesdays extremely violent attack at Bangla Motor.On Friday her motorcade was escorded by party workers. Khaleda cautioned against vote rigging by activists of the ruling party.
People will give a befitting reply if Awami League tries to ‘rig votes’ during the city corporation elections, BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia has warned.
“People of Dhaka want change. I’m urging the voters to vote for the right candidates if they want Dhaka’s development,” she said on Friday.
Khaleda resumed her city polls campaign seeking votes for the BNP-backed mayor candidates in Dhaka in the afternoon.
At a street rally, she urged the voters to ‘response sternly’ if the ruling party attempts to ‘rig the votes’ in the polling centres.
The Dhaka South, Dhaka North and Chittagong city corporations will go to elections on Apr 28.
The BNP is supporting Tabith Mohammed Awal for Dhaka North City Corporation mayor and the party’s Standing Committee member Mirza Abbas for Dhaka South.
Khaleda has been campaigning in the capital for the two aspirants since last Saturday. – News Desk
