The Special Judge Court-3 of Dhaka on Thursday fixed April 7 for the four accused including BNP Chief Begum Khaleda Zia to defend them in the Zia Charitable Trust graft case to defend in court.Judge Abu Ahmed Jamadar of the court fixed the date recording the depositions of prosecution witnesses in the case. Earlier, the court declared completion of recording the depositions of the witness.
Besides, the court asked all the accused in the case to be present in the court on the day to support themselves under section 342 of the Code of Criminal Procedure.
Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) prosecutor Mosharraf Hossain Kajal has told that a total of 32 witnesses testified in the case.
Besides, the court also fixed April 7 to record the depositions of the witnesses in the Zia Orphanage Trust case.
On August 8, 2011, the ACC filed the Zia Charitable Trust graft case with Tejgaon Model Police Station accusing four people, including Khaleda Zia, of abuse of power in raising funds for the trust from unknown sources.
Besides, the ACC filed the Zia Orphanage Trust graft case on July 3, 2008 with Ramna Model Police Station accusing Khaleda Zia, her son Tarique Rahman, now living in the UK after securing bail, and four others for misappropriating over Tk 21.00 million that came as grants from a foreign bank for orphans.
