Dhaka – The 4th edition of Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) T20 cricket is likely to get new look with the inclusion of two old franchise teams — Rajshahi and Khulna.Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) approved Renaissance Group to own Rajshahi while Gemcon Group Khulna team,UNB News Agency Reported.
Rajshahi and Khulna will join defending champions Comilla Victorians,runners-up Barisal Bulls, Rangpur Riders, Dhaka Dynamites, Chittagong Vikings and Sylhet. The tournament is likely to be held in November-December.BCB director and member of BPL Governing Council Sheikh Sohel disclosed this after a meeting in Mirpur on Thursday.“We are including two more franchises from the next edition of BPL.Renaissance Group will take Rajshahi while Gemcon Group will have Khulna,” he said.Meanwhile, Alif Group, which owned Sylhet Superstars in the last edition BPL in 2015, was striped off the ownership by Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) for their failure of clear players’ payment. BCB is in search of a new franchise for Sylhet.“We are also looking for new owners for Sylhet Superstars as we had to cut off our agreement with the previous owners due to their failure to pay,” Sohel added.Khulna Royal Bengals and Duronto Rajshahi played in first two tournaments in 2012 and 2013. Khulna were owned by Orion Group while Rajshahi by Digital Autos.
