May Day observed in Netrakona


The deputy minister for youth and sports Arif Khan Joy said here yesterday that the present government under the dynamic leadership of prime minister Sheikh Hasina is putting it’s best and sincere efforts for preserving the rights of workers side by side with improving their socio-economic condition by increasing minimum wages.He was addressing as chief guest at a discussion meeting on “significance of historic May day” at district Shilpakala Academy premises here. Netrakona district administration organized the meeting marking the Historic May Day.Chaired by additional deputy commissioner (general) Netrakona Dr Abdur Rahim, the meeting was addressed, among others, by police super Netrakona Jakir Hussain Khan, additional deputy commissioner (revenue) Netrakona Mohammad Yousuf Ali, public prosecutor of the district Advocate GM Khan Pathan Bimol, commander of district Muktijoddha sangsad Nurul Amin and district -level Awami league leaders including Nur Khan Mitu and Habibur Rahman Khan Rotan.Later, a colourful May Day rally paraded the main roads of the district town.Large number of local people from all walks life including workers and leaders of different workers associations with colourful posters, placards and banners joined the rally. -BSS, Netrakona
