Dhaka – Principal Moulana Yunus Ahmed, secretary general of Islami Andolan Bangladsh said on Saturday that his party would be compelled to take up a strong programme of movement is the ‘conspiracy’ to drop ‘State Religion Islam’ from the Constituting of Bangladesh does not stop.
Addressing a rally organised before taking out a procession from the House Building premises at Purana Paltan, he said that state religion was a settled issue. He alleged that communal leaders of some organisations were trying to disturb communal harmony in Bangladesh by making various provocative utterances.
Principal Yunus Ahmed blamed some communal organisations for the provocations which he said look like ‘conspiracy to demolish the thousand years of tradition of coexistence of all religions and communal harmony’ in Bangladesh.
Presided over by Prof. ATM Hemayetuddin, president, Dhaka city unit of IAB, the rally moderated by secretary of the unit Ahmed Abdul Qayyum, was also addressed by Moulana Gazi Ataur Rahman, Moulana Imtiaz Alam and Moulana Lokman Hossain Zafori among others.
Later a procession was brought out on the Topkhana Road in support of the statement of the IAB leaders. – Press release
