M’singh 4-murder prime accused held


Police arrested the prime accused in the case for murder of a local Jatiyatabadi Sramik Dal leader and three members of his family in Bhaluka upazila from Togni of Gazipur district early Thursday.The arrestee was identified as Hafizur Rahman Tanu, 25. Tipped off, a team of Mymensingh police in association with Gazipur police launched a drive in the area early in the morning and arrested Tanu, sources at Mymensingh police said. Earlier, on December 16, the bodies of Rafiqul Islam Bachchu, general secretary of Habirbari union unit of Sramik Dal, and his wife Parul Akhter and two daughters—Jiniya Akhter, 6, and Rima Akhter—were found at their house in Bhaluka upazila of Mymensingh. Later, Bachchu’s father Wares Ali filed a murder case with Bhaluka Model Police Station on the fateful day against five people. Police on December 17 arrested three youths in connection with the gruesome murder. -UNB, Mymensingh
