Mufti Harun on 15-day remanded


A Dhaka court has sent Harun Bin Izahar to police remand for fifteen days.

Izahar, the son of Hifazat, IOJ and Nezam-e-Islami leader Mufti Izaharul Islam Chowdhury, has been accused in cases related to violence in Motijheel on May 5.

Metropolitan Magistrate Erfan Ullah passed the order on Thursday after the police pleaded for a remand of 10 days each in 4 cases.

The court granted five days in police custody each in 3 cases.

The court denied police’s plea in the fourth case as Izahar’s name was not included in the first information report (FIR).

He has been charged with attempt to kill policemen, obstructing them in discharge of duty and for acts of arson and destruction.

Izahar was arrested from Chittagong on Oct 9 in connection with the blast at a madrasa run by his father.

A huge explosion took place at the Jamayetul-Ulum-Al Islamia Madrasa at the port city’s Lalkhan Bazar on Oct 7.
