Mymensingh retain U14 Nat’l Women’s Football title


Dhaka – Mymensingh District clinched the title of the JFA Under-14 National Women’s Football Championship for the 3rd successive time beating Thakurgaon Districts by 3-0 goals in the final at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Friday.Rozina Akter, who won the Golden Boot for scoring the highest 14 goals in the tournament, put Mymensingh forward in the 5th minute and doubled the lead in the 11th minute while most valuable player of the tournament Samsunnahar extended the winning margin scoring in the 35th minute.Champions team Mymensingh got Golden Trophy, medals and Tk 50,000 as prize money while runners-up Thakurgaon received Silver Trophy, medal and Tk 25,000 as prize money.Niti of Tangail District team was adjudged most promising player of the tournament while Sagorika of Thakurgaon the best goalkeeper of the tournament and Jessore venue as the best regional venue. Mymensingh smartly booked a seat for the final eliminating Rajshahi by 4-0 goals in the semifinals while Thakurgaon managed the final berth defeating Tangail by 3-1 goals in penalty shoot out after 1-1 in the stipulated time of the another semifinal.UNB news agency
