Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid on Saturday laid stress on grooming the youths as skilled workforce to contribute to the country’s productive sectors.
The minister urged the teachers and guardians to remain alert so that the youths should not utilize their acquired knowledge in destructive activities.
Nahid said was addressing the inaugural ceremony of the two-day conference on “Agronomy and Livelihood” organised by Bangladesh Society of Agronomy at Shilpacharya Zainul Abedin auditorium of Bangladesh Agriculture University here.
President of Bangladesh Society of Agronomy M Abdul Jalil Mridha presided over the function.
The function was addressed, among others, by FAO Representative in Bangladesh Mr. Mike Robson and Vice-Chancellor of the university Professor M Ali Akbar.
Director General of Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) M Hamidur Rahman, Director General of Bangladesh Agriculture Research Institute M Rafikul Islam Mandol and former vice-chancellor of Noakhali Science and Technology University Professor Saidur Haque Chowdhury were present at the function.
The minister also handed over an award to Nur Elahi, researcher of Bangladesh Agriculture Research Institute, as the best agriculturist in the conference, reports BSS from Mymensingh.
