NCL Round 3: Rain allows opening 1st innings for Dhaka Div, Rajshahi


Dhaka – Dhaka Division scored 132/4 in 39 overs, at stumps, after day one in the 1st innings against defending champions Khulna Division in a Tier1 3rd round match of the country’s first cricket Walton 19th National Cricket League (NCL) at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong on Friday.Shuvagata Hom 41* and Taiabur Parvez 25* were at the crease in the 5th stand when the bails were drawn for the rain interrupted first day’s play.Zahiduzzaman (30), Rakibul Hasan (21) and Rony Talukdar (11) were the other double digit scorers for Dhaka Div.Alamin Hossain and Mahadi Hasan bagged two wickets each for 38 and 39 runs respectively.Meanwhile, in the Tier 2 match at Sheikh Abu Naser Stadium in Khulna, riding on a half century of 56 runs by Mizanur Rahman, Rajshahi Division scored 114/4 in 41.1 overs, at stumps, in the 1st innings after the 1st day’s play against Dhaka Metro.Zunaid Siddique (29*) and Forhad Reza (7*) were at the crease when the bails were drawn for day one.Dollar Mahmud captured three wickets for 30 runs while Abu Haydar took another wicket for 46 runs for Dhaka Metro.The 1st day’s play of the two other matches – (Tier1: Barisal vs Rangpur) and (Tier2: Chittagong vs Sylhet) — of the league were called off due to rain at Shaheed Kamruzzaman Stadium in Rajshahi and Shaheed Chandu Stadium in Bogra respectively.UNB news agency
