Nepal, an Associate Member of the International Cricket Council, beat the Kiwis by 32 runs at the Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium in Fatullah on Thursday.Put to bat first in the Group D tie, Nepal batsmen rallied to post 238 for 7. Captain Raju Rijal top scored with 48, while Sandeep Sunar (39), Aarif Sheikh (39) and Kushal Bhurtel (35 not out) made useful contributions.

Nathan Smith took 3 for 58 for the Black Caps.In reply, New Zealand, who were given a good base by Glenn Philips (52) and Josh Finnie (37), were forced on to the back foot by three run-outs.Glenn’s brother Dale Philips (41) fought back but he, too, walked back for a misjudged call.Nepal’s 16-year old Dipendra Singh Airee returned 3 for 24 in five overs.Nepal will take on Ireland in their next match on Saturday.
