No dialogue with Khaleda, says Ershad

Jatiya Party chairman HM Ershad yesterday said Khaleda is looking for dialogue but she won’t be given any of it.
“BNP was called for a dialogue repeatedly but they remain unresponsive. Now they are begging it. I shall never have a dialogue with them,” he said while addressing the party conference of Comilla North District unit.
Ershad, who is also special envoy to the Prime Minister, said he would not join any other alliance he has seen all the alliances from four to fourteen but they all betrayed him and did not look after him.“We have got nothing from BNP or Awami League. So, we will contest next election our own after reorganising our party,” he said.
The former president expressed his hope that country’s democracy and rule of law would be restored if the Jatiya Party led by him goes to power.
He alleged that both the BNP and the Awami League went to power in assistance with him but they frustrated him tactfully and did not look after him.
“This time, we have decided to fill all the 300 constituencies with our own candidates and will not join any alliance,” he said.
He criticised the government for its failure to ensure safety and security of the people and their properties.
Presided over by district Jatiya Party president Lutfor Reza Khokan, the conference was also addressed, among others, by Water Resources Minister Barrister Anisul Islam Mahmud, SM Faisal Chisty, Prof Nurul Islam Milon, and Rezaul Islam Bhuiyan.
Later, new committee of Comilla North Jatiya Party was formed with Lutfor Reza Khokan and Amir Hossain Bhuiyan, MP as its president and general secretary respectively. – Staff Reporter
