Non Communicable Diseases Forum meet 29 April

Non Communicable Diseases (NCDs) are the leading causes of death worldwide. Almost two-thirds of all global deaths are due to NCDs. In 2005, NCDs accounted for 60% of all deaths and 47% of global burden of diseases. By 2020 it is estimated that Non Communicable disease will account for 73% of all deaths.
Increasingly, it is low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) and the poorest and most vulnerable populations that are hardest hit by these largely preventable diseases. The onset of many NCDs can be prevented or delayed by addressing their common risk factors: tobacco use, harmful use of alcohol, unhealthy diet, and insufficient levels of physical activity.
