Nov 7 killers to be tried as well, says govt minister

Dhaka – Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Huq on Monday said the killers of November 7, 1975 will be held in the country.
“BNP are trying to confuse the present generation by raising the November 7 wrongly. The trial of the killers of November 7 will also be tried on Bangladesh soil,” he said.The minister made the remark while addressing a memorial meeting in the city for Liberation War’s Sector-2 Commander Khaled Mosharraf who was killed on the fateful day in 1975.
Khaled Mosharraf Bir Uttam Smriti Parishad arranged the meeting at Shawkat Osman auditorium of the Public Library, said a PID handout.
The minister said Khaled Mosharraf proved that he loved the country by sacrificing his life. “He (Khaled Mosharraf) was not involved in conspiracy. He neither bowed down to anyone nor wrote his name in the list of betrayers. He protested the killing of Bangabandhu,” Mozammel said.
He said Khaled Mosharraf and many others, including Colonel Huda were killed in the name of Sepoy Biplob, (soldiers’ mutiny) on November 7, 1975.
Presided over the by Khaled Mosharraf’s wife Salma Khaled, the memorial meeting was addressed, among others, by Barrister Amirul Islam, Vice-Chancellor of the National University Prof Harun-or-Rashid, Mahbub Uddin Bir Bikram, Sub-sector commander of the Sector-9 Shachin Karmaker and President of the Jatiya Press Club Shafiqur Rahman. – UNB
