One held with arms, ammo in Rangamati


Dhaka – A special team of joint forces, comprising members of Army, Border Guard Bangladesh and Police, carried out a drive in Rangamati district and arrested an alleged terrorist and extortionist along with firearms, ammunition and other goods early Wednesday,UNB news agency reported.The joint force conducted the drive at village Khagrachhari of Shisokmukh area early in the morning and arrested Nirvik Chakma, a suspected terrorist and extortionist, from his residence, said a press release of Inter-Service Public Relation (ISPR) on Wednesday afternoon.The joint forces also recovered two automatic pistols, one LG pistol, one long barrel gun, 18 rounds of bullets, one pair of uniform, Tk 17331 cash and pne bag, reportedly used in carrying extortion money, the ISPR release said.  Nirvik Chakma is reported to be involved in terrorist activities, including collecting tolls from a number of kitchen markets of Baghaichhari and Longodhuk in Rangamati district.A case was filed with local police station in connection with the incident.
