One killed in Kushtia clash over control


One person was killed and 10 others were injured in a clash between two groups of villagers over establishing supremacy at Baraipara village in Sadar upazila on Wednesday.The deceased was identified as Amirul Islam, 50, a resident of the same village.Officer-in-charge of Islami University Police Station Shafiqul Islam said there had been a dispute prevailing for long between Moynal Biswas and Sultan Biswas over establishing dominion in the area.The incident ensued following an altercation between the supportersof the two groups in the morning. At one stage, the two rival groups, equipped with indigenous arms, attacked each other, leaving 11 people, including Amirul, injured. The injured were admitted to Kushtia General Hospital where on-duty doctors declared Amirul dead.Police recovered the body and sent this to the hospital morgue for an autopsy.A case was filed in this connection. -UNB, Kushtia
