Younis Khan dedicated his century against Bangladesh on Wednesday, the 29th of his Test career, to the victims of Nepal’s mega earthquake.
Pakistan at stumps on 323 for 3 in 90 overs on day one spurred by Younis-Azhar centuries alongwith a stand of 250 runs against the Tigers.
The Pakistan skipper told of his decision to dedicate his century to the press at a post-match press conference after day one of the second and last Test against Bangladesh at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.“I would love to dedicate this innings to those who had died and suffered in Nepal after earthquake,” Younis said.
“They played well.suddenly lost their way” said Younis replying to a query regarding Bangladesh’s performance in the match. He also recalled the memories of third and fourth day’s performance of Bangladesh in the first Test in Khulna.
“In the first Test Bangladesh played well, especially on third and fourth day,” Younis praised.
Terming Pakistan’s day “all about to partnership”, the 37-year-old shared his view saying,”Whenever I play with Azhar we chat a lot during play.”
He thanked God for he played well when team needed it and having the chance to stay long.
Observing the pitch as pace-friendly, Mohammad Shahid who claimed two wickets for Bangladesh on the day, said, “we’ll also play well in the match.”
He also lamented some missed opportunities for Bangladesh on the field.
“The equation would have been different if we didn’t miss those chances,” Shahid said. – UNB
