BNP vice-chairman Shamsher Mobin Chowdhury on Saturday said the country’s overall security will be at stake if the ‘democratic system is not restored’.
“It’s not the government of people …people have no confidence in it …even the regime has lost its control over the administration,” he told reporters at his Mirer Maidan residence in the city.
Referring to the recent seven abductions followed by murders in Narayanganj, the BNP leader said the gruesome incidents have taken place as the government has no control over the administration.“This is an example of ill-politics of the government.”
After the country’s independence, Rakkhi Bahini had emerged as a wild force that killed many freedom fighters. “It was a force of visible panic among people,“ said Shamsher Mobin, also a former foreign secretary.
“Now a ‘special’ force has been carrying out abductions, forced disappearances …its members are killing people brutally,” he alleged.
Shamsher Mobin further alleged that Mujib, a Sunamganj BNP leader, was made disappeared the way Ilias Ali had been picked up.
He claimed that the international community also has no confidence in the government.
About the GDP growth, the BNP leader said the GDP growth will be below six percent this time, while the remittance inflow has marked a fall.
The former foreign secretary also accused the ruling party of nakedly politicising the administration, including the police, resulting in its loss of control over the administration.
