Dhaka: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will visit Canada on September 16-17 before heading towards New York to attend the UN General Assembly.
She will be visiting Canada at the invitation of her Canadian counterpart Justin Trudeau, said a Foreign Ministry official. UNB News Agency Reported.
As part of her engagements in Canada, the Prime Minister will attend the 5th Global Fund Replenishment Conference to be held on September 16-17 in Montreal.
On Sunday afternoon, Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali will brief the press on her visit to Canada and the USA highlighting her engagements in the two countries.
Sheikh Hasina is scheduled leave here for London on September 14 (Wednesday morning), the official said.
After a 22-hour stopover in London, she will leave for Montreal on September 15 (Thursday afternoon).
According to the schedule finalised so far, the Prime Minister will stay in Montreal on September 16-17 and leave Pierre Eliott Trudeau Intl. Airport, Montreal for New York on September 18 to attend the 71st UNGA.
She will return home from Washington through Dubai on September 26.
As the conference host, Canada will play a leading role in this historic opportunity to end HIV, TB and malaria as epidemics by 2030.
The conference seeks to mobilise US$13 billion for the three-year period 2017-2019 to save up to 8 million lives, for a total of 30-32 million lives saved by 2020 and support partners in domestic investment of US$41 billion towards the three diseases.
