The DMP team led by additional deputy commissioner (Ramna Zone) HM Azimul Haque started for Dhaka at around 12 pm yesterday and he would be taken to the court when he would reach Dhaka.
Officer-in-charge (OC) of Domar Police Station Raziur Rahman told The Independent that Obaidul on Tuesday went to Domar upazila to meet his brother-in-law Khadimul Islam’s brother Khushbu, who is an office assistant of BRAC Sonahar branch.
Obaidul phoned Khushbu when he did not find him at his office. Later, Khusbhu called his colleague Shahadat and asked him to stay with Obaidul for some time.
Meanwhile, Khushbu called Birganj police to inform about the location of Obaidul. Then the Birganj police under Dinajpur district informed it to the Domar police.
Immediately, a team of Dhaka Ramna police including ADC (Raman) HM Azimul Haque and Domar police OC Raziur conducted a raid at Domra BRAC office at about 8:00pm on Tuesday but failed to nab Obaidul.
However, the law-enforcers detained Shahadat and Khushbu in the office and carried them to the police station.
Police spread the photo of Obaidul at different parts of the area in Nilphamari. When Obaidul entered into the Nilphamari town, local people held him at Sonahar Bazar early hours on Wednesday and handed over him to the police.
Police also said they released Obaidul’s sister and brother-in-law who were taken under police custody for interrogation.
