Rubaiyat Hossain’s critically acclaimed feature film ‘Under Construction’ will be showcased in the Five Flavours Film Festival to be held from November 16 to 23 in Warsaw, Poland.
The film will be presented in the competition section New Asian Cinema which is dedicated to new films focused on cultural and social issues, among others. The winning titles are selected by People’s Jury, as well as independent NETPAC jury.
“We consider Under Construction a brilliant example of the cinema with not only narrative and visual values but also aware of and sensitive to social issues,” as mentioned by the festival director Jakub Krolikowski. ‘Under Construction’ is scheduled for two screenings on November 18 and 19. The lead actress of the film Shahana Goswami would represent the film as a special guest and participating in the Q&A.
Renowned to premiere latest and most appealing Asian cinemas in Poland, Five Flavours Film Festival is supported by the Warsaw City Council, The Ministry of Culture and the Polish Film Institute.
Another festival focused on Asian cinema, Casa Asia film festival in Barcelona, Spain has also showcased Under Construction last week along with other Bangladeshi film My Bicycle by Aung Rakhine. Both films were presented in the Discoveries section of the festival that was opened on November 5 to end on November 13.
Specializing in Asian films, Casa Asia Film Festival is the gateway to Asian cinema in Spain. ‘The festival aims to bring the high quality narrative art of the Asian continent to the Spanish public, making it a place of gathering and dialogue of multiple cultures,’ as mentioned by the festival director Menene Gras Balaguer.
