BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Wednesday bemoaned that a suffocating situation has been created in the country as political division has spared to all spheres of society.“A dangerous political culture has now developed in the country. Division is now everywhere. It’s also there in sports and cultural arena. It’s hard to believe political division has also spread to wedding ceremonies,” he said.The BNP leader went on saying, “We admit it or not, a suffocating situation has been prevailing in the country…it’s pushing us towards a dark hole.
The culture of division won’t help us move forward.”Fakhrul came up with the observations while speaking at a programme arranged by ‘Cricket Angan’ at Dhaka Reporters’ Unity in memory of BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia’s younger son Arafat Rahman Koko, marking his 1st death anniversary.He said a national unity has to be forged for ensuring an overall development of the country.
