Dhaka-The Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhaka on Sunday placed four persons, including acting Pro-Vice Chancellor of North South University, Gias Uddin Ahsan, arrested for not keeping tenant information and renting house to Gulshan attackers, on eight-day remand each.Magistrate Mohammad Tasruzzaman passed the order after Detective Branch (DB) Inspector Humayun Kabir produced them to the court seeking 10-day remand for each of them.
Three other persons are Alam Chowdury, nephew of Gias Uddin Ahsan, Mahbubur Rahman Tuhin, manager of the building and Nurul Islam, a teacher of a school in Mirpur area of the city.
Besides, police on Sunday arrested Nurul Islam, a house owner in the city’s Shewarapara area for renting out his flat to Gulshan attackers and not keeping their information. They also seized a hand grenade, black dress used by the terrorists and some other materials from the house.
Besides, police on Saturday arrested the three persons, including Gias Uddin Ahsan, Alam Chowdury, and Mahbubur Rahman Tuhin, from different parts of the city for not keeping information of their tenants, who were involved in the recent Gulshan terrorist attack.
Police also seized some cartons containing sand and some clothes of the militants. All of them were shown arrested under section 54 of the Code of Criminal Procedure.
On July 1, gunmen stormed the cafe and took guests and employees hostage. Twenty bodies, including nine of Italians and seven Japanese nationals, were recovered from the crime spot the following day.
The crisis ended following an army-led joint forces’ operation- ‘Operation Thunderbolt’. Two policemen and six militants, of whom one later appeared to be a staff of the Bakery who meight have not been involved in the attack, were also killed in the incident.-Court Correspondent
