RAB mobile court fined 4 hospitals & diagnostic centre


Dhaka- A Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) mobile court on Friday fined three hospitals and one diagnostic centre in the city’s Mohammadpur area Tk 6.19 lakh for providing treatment in dirty and unhygienic environment as well as operating without specialized doctors, diploma nurses and technicians.

The errant medical institutions are: Nabab Siraj-ud-dowla Manasik and Madokasakta hospital, Bangladesh Trauma Specialized Hospital, Maliha Hospital and Vital Diagnostic Centre.

The court sealed off the Nabab Siraj-ud-dowla Manasik and Madokasakta Hospital and sentenced its owner Md Anwar to six months simple jail.

The court also asked the owner of Maliha Hospital to close the hospital within seven days.

The authorities of all the four errant healthcare institutions were fined different amounts.

Officials at the Rab-2 headquarters said a team led by its deputy director Dr Md Didarul Alam along with executive magistrate Mohammad Helel Uddin conducted simultaneous drives in the three hospitals in Mohammadpur area from 10:30 am to 2:30 pm.

During the drive, the elite force members found various irregularities, including providing treatments in dirty and unhygienic environment, absence of specialized doctors, diploma nurses, technicians and valid documents.

Prof Dr Samiul Islam (Sadi), Director of the Directorate General of Health Services, assisted the mobile court during the drive.-News desk
