A Dhaka court on Wednesday sent four associates Sohel Rana, owner of collapsed Rana Plaza building after they surrender to the court with bail pleas.Senior Judicial Magistrate Md Al Min of the Chief Judicial Magistrate Court of Dhaka passed the order rejecting the bail pleas of the accused. They are Md Ataur Rahman, Md Abdus Salam, Biddut Mia and Md Aminul Islam.
Earlier, on December 21, the court took cognizance of the charge of the case against 41 including the four, who surrendered on Wednesday. On the day the court issued arrest warrants against 23 fugitives.
Of the other accused whose names are mentioned in the charge sheet, lone accused Sohel Rana is behind the bar. Of them 17 accused secured bail from the court.
Two cases were filed in connection with the collapse of the building on April 24, 2013. The charge sheet of the murder case contains 41 accused while 17 persons have been included in the charge sheet of the case filed under the Building Construction Act. A total of 1,117 dead bodies were recovered from the spot of Savar after the incident that occurred. Later, 19 injured garment workers died during their medical treatment in different hospitals. Seriously injured 78 victims ultimately have become disabled. The dead bodies of 844 workers were handed over to their kith and kin. Besides, the dead, 1170 were injured in the deadly incident.
