The Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhaka once again placed BNP Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi Ahmed on a fresh remand for two days on Wednesday, in a separate case, filed for hurling petrol bomb on a bus in Mirpur area of the capital.
Magistrate Md Shamsul Arefin of the CMM Court passed the order after hearing on the latest remand plea on Wednesday afternoon. Earlier, Sub-Inspector of Mirpur Model Police Station and also the Investigation Officer of the case, Md Rafiq produced BNP leader Rizvi to the court, seeking a seven-day remand in the case filed with the police station for setting ablaze a bus, hurling petrol bomb in front of Sony cinema hall on January 25, during the blockade programme of the 20-party alliance. The BNP leader is included in the First Information Report (FIR) of the case. He was taken to the court on Wednesday on completion of a five-day remand – sixth consequtive in the series – in another case filed with the same police station for vandalism and attempt to kill passengers and the staff of a bus by throwing petrol on the same.In the wee hours of January 30, Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) detained Rizvi from a house in city’s Baridhara area. Later, he was kept on remand for 26 days from February 1. He was first placed on a three-day remand in a case filed with Badda Police Station. Later, he was placed on a five-day in a case filed with Jatrabari Police Station for setting afire a bus, on February 10, he was put on a five-day fresh remand in another case of Jatrabari Police Station. He was again put on a three-day remand in another case of the same police station on February 16.
Besides, he was placed on a two-day police remand in a case of Mohammadpur Police Station on February 20. On February 23, he was placed on a three-day remand in a case of the same police station. – Court Correspondent
