Leaders of Rangpur Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RMCCI) have laid emphasis on establishing a special economic zone here to promote industrialisation for accelerating economic development in the area.
They made the view in a meeting held at RMCCI auditorium in the city on Saturday afternoon with President of RMCCI Rezaul Islam Litan in the chair.
Senior Vice-president of RMCCI Golam Zakaria Pintu, its Directors Sabbir Ahmed, Nurul Islam, Aiyub Ali, Taufikur Rahman, Syed Shah Newaz Ali, Rubayet Hossain Khan, Alhaj Abdur Razzaque and Asif Ahmed Akash, among others, addressed.
The speakers suggested for speeding up communication with the ministries concerned to expedite the process of establishing a special economic zone in Rangpur for expanding business, trade and commerce to accelerate development of Rangpur and its people.
They put special importance on arranging an urgent meeting of common
business persons and potato exporters for resolving various problems in running their businesses and exporting potato abroad from Rangpur region.
In his speech, RMCCI President said the organisation would continue to
extend full cooperation to the businesspersons for preserving their business and trade related interests and resolving problems for smoothly running businesses.
“The RMCCI would continue its efforts along with the government and
regional initiatives to accelerate industrialisation and attain sustainable development in Rangpur region through flourishing private sector initiatives,” he said.
He put emphasis on setting up of more industries in the private sector to create job opportunities for unemployed youths to accelerate economic advancement of Rangpur region and promote regional and international trade and commerce, reports BSS from Rangpur.
