Dhaka-The Rajshahi University (RU) authority has been adopted an effective step for formulating a 25-year master plan for its overall development at the campus. Under this master plan various infrastructure Development Project of RU is waiting for government approval. After getting the final approval along with sufficient financial assistance from the respective ministry of the government university would to go implement these projects soon at campus, sources said.
RU vice chancellor Prof. Muhammed Mizan Uddin told that Due to less allocation for annual budget from UGC against demand budget, University faces different fund crisis that hampering development activities of the university.
He said “We don`t get budget as per our requirement. For this reason our education, research and development activities have been running with budget deficit for long”.
Even we cannot recruit quality faculty members to improve the standard of education and research here.
Despite of the fund limitation university is listing various future development and renovation plans at campus.
These are a 10-storied residential establishment, 20-storied central science building & ICT buildings and 5-megawatt combined power stations.
Moreover, modify building for Sheikh Rasel Model School, fourth science building, fourth arts building, Motihar hall and remaining works of Agriculture faculty building will be completed in the future. Besides, under the 25-years master plan RU to established a park, cultural centre for Music& Theater department, construction of a modern drainage system, cafeteria modernization and widening the internal streets of the campus.
In the supporting to implement these projects university experts put forward a set of recommendations including more income from the internal resources and expenditure reduction in the miscellaneous field.
Mentionable RU has approved its annual budget worth Tk 490.61 crore for 2016-17 fiscal while TK 17.53 crore will come from internal resources of the university. -RU Correspondent:
