The one and only regular musical magazine on music of Bangladesh, Sargam passed 21 years and stepped into 22 on October 1. To celebrate this, discussion, greetings exchange and a grand cultural programme was organised at Sufia Kamal Auditorium of National Museum on October 18. In this programme, internationally reputed painter Hashem Khan, renowned lyricist K. G. Mostafa, Dramatist Ramendu Majumdar, famous lyricist Shahidullah Farayezi, poet Kazi Rozy took part. In the beginning, one minute silence was observed for the artistes and musicians who passed away recently from the music arena.
The discussants said the stepping into 22 years of Sargam- is a rare and glorious chapter in the field of culture of the country. Everybody appreciated the efforts of Editor Quazi Rownaq Hossain.
After the discussion session, the cultural programme started with two choruses- ‘Akash Vora Surjo Tara’ and ‘Eki Aporup Rupe Ma Tomay’ by the singers of Sargam cultural group. In the break of singing, audiences were moved by advocate Ajharul Islam Rony as he recited Kazi Nazrul’s ‘Ovivashan’. The programme got another dimension with BAFA`s child dancers and veteran guitarist Enamul Kabir`s presentation. In the musical segment, the performances of talented singers could not satisfy the audiences at all. They kept shouting ‘one more’ but the organisers could not honour their request due to time constraints.
Performers of the day were Khurshid Alam, Indra Mohon Rajbongshi, Dipti Rajbongshi, Muntarin Mahal, Yasmeen Mushtari, Roqyeya Hasina Neely, Kamal Ahamed, Narayan Chandra Shil, Fatema- Tuz-Zohra Oishi, Mon Mostafiz, Shuvhananda Puri Maharaj, Shelu Barua, Ulka Hossain, Swapon Kumar Das, Debashis Chakrabarti, Krishna Mitra and others. The programme ended with the National Anthem presented by the audience and Sargam Sanskritik Dol.
