Saudi Arabia to recruit Bangladeshi manpower on priority



Dhaka, Feb 27 –  Saudi Arabia has pledged to give priority to Bangladesh in recruiting manpower both male and female from abroad, said Minister for Expatriate Welfare and Overseas Employment Nurul Islam.He said Saudi Minister of Labor and Social Development Dr. Ali bin Nasser al-Ghafis made the commitment at OIC conference for labour affairs ministers of its member countries.The Bangladesh Minister was speaking with a delegation of Journalists Forum on Migration (JFM) at his office in the city after his return from OIC conference for labour affair ministers held in Jeddah.He said the Saudi Minister also highly appreciated the commitment of Bangladeshi workers to their responsibility.Nurul Islam said he has been elected first vice president of the 56-member OIC during the conference on February 21-22.The nomination in the post will benefit the country a lot as they would discuss with us to determine any migration related plan of action in future. It has recognized a role of Bangladesh in the OIC, he said.Replying to a question, he said Bangladesh has to create interlink with each Muslim country so that people are attracted to Muslim Ummah.On another question, he said his ministry fixed a target to send 12 lakh workers abroad this year. “We started campaign at villages to fulfill the target, he said.He suggested the aspirants to communicate with the ministry so that they can go abroad without any hassle.Monir Hossain, president of JFM, led the delegation. Acting general secretary of JFM Rabiul Haque, Akhter Hossain and Shamsul Islam, among others, were present during the meeting.
