SC full bench to hear appeal against Khaleda’s bail Wednesday


Dhaka, March 13 – The full bench of the Supreme Court on Wednesday will hear the petition of Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) against a High Court verdict that granted bail to BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia. Chamber Judge Justice Hasan Fayez Siddique of the Appellate Division fixed the date on Tuesday noon.
Khaleda Zia’s lawyer Zainul Abedin, who is also the Supreme Court Bar Association President and senior lawyer AJ Mohammad Ali moved on behalf of Khaleda Zia while Attorney General Mahbubey Alam represented the state.
Earlier yesterday (Tuesday) morning, on behalf of the ACC and the state filed two petitions were submitted seeking a stay order on the bail granted to BNP Chief Khaleda Zia in the Zia Orphanage Trust graft case.
On Monday, the BNP chief secured bail for four months in the case. She sentenced to five years’ imprisonment with fine in the graft case. – Special Correspondent
