At least four bills including Supreme Court Judges (Leav, Pension and Privileges) Amendment Bill-2015 are likely to be placed in the budget session of 10th Parliament beginning Monday.
The other bills are—Export Promotion Bureau Bill-2015, International Finance Corporation Bill-2015 and Bangladesh Tea Workers Welfare Fund Bill-2015, according to Parliament Secretariat sources.The Parliament may also consider passages of two bills–Financial Reporting Bill-2014 and Khulna Agricultural Universality Bill-12015.
The session will begin at 5:00pm with Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury in the chair. It will be the sixth session of the 10th parliament which was constituted through January 5 polls that BNP had boycotted.
The agenda and duration of the session will be determined at a meeting of the Business Advisory Committee prior to the session.
Minister for Finance Abul Maal Abdul Muhith will place national budget for 2015-16 fiscal year at 3:00pm on June 4. It will be the second budget session of Sheikh Hasina led present government.
He will place about Tk three lakh crore budget for the ninth time as the finance minister.
BNP’s finance minister late M Saifur Rahman had placed national budget for 12 times while Shah AMS Kibria for seven times.
Meanwhile, Parliament Secretariat has taken all necessary preparation for the budget session.
Discussion on budget will be held through June and to be passed on June 30.
The previous session began on January 19 was prorogued on April 2. Lawmakers took part in general discussion on thanks giving motions of President Abdul Hamid’s address to the nation for about 60 hours.
During 39 working days, eight out of 11 bills were passed in the last session. – Staff Reporter
