Law enforcement agencies have taken all-out security measures to keep the law and order situation normal during Durga Puja, one of biggest religious festivals of the Hindu community.There will also be foolproof security measures at vulnerable puja mandaps across the country.
The decision was taken at a meeting on security ahead of Duga Puja held at the Police Headquarters on Tuesday with Inspector General of Police (IGP) AKM Shahidul Hoque in the chair.
Meeting sources said the IGP instructed the police officers and other law enforcement agencies to remain alert so that no untoward incident happens while making idols, celebrating Durga Puja and immersion of idols.
He also directed the field level officers to remain watchful so that no vested quarter can jeopardize the law and order situation centring on the Hindu festival.
Senior police officers, leaders of Bangladesh Puja Udjapan Parishad, Dhaka City Sarbajanin Puja Committee and Bangladesh Hindu-Buddhist-Christian Oikya Parishad attended the meeting.
