Shab-e-Barat observed


Dhaka – The holy Shab-e-Barat, the night of fortune, was observed in Bangladesh on Sunday night with due solemnity and religious fervour.
Muslim devotees offered prayers, held discussion meetings and milad mohfils seeking divine blessings for peace, happiness and wellbeing of all.They converged to graveyards of their relatives and saints and prayed for the eternal peace of the departed souls.
Homemade sweets and bread were distributed among the poor, relatives, neighbours and friends on the occasion.
It is commonly believed that on this night, Allah Almighty, decides the fate of all creatures for the coming year on the nigh taking into account their deeds.
The Islamic Foundation Bangladesh, different socio-cultural organisations held elaborate programmes including discussion meeings and doa mohfils.
Monday is a public holiday marking the Shab-e-Barat fell on the night before.
President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Bnp chief Khaleda Zia issued separate messages felicitating the Muslims on the occasion.
Governmen and private TV channels and radio stations aired special programmes. Newspapers published articles, highlighting the significance of the night. – News Desk
