Shamsher resigned from politics under Govt pressure- Nazrul

BNP standing committee member Nazrul Islam Khan on Saturday alleged that Shamsher Mobin Chowdhury retired from politics under government pressure.
“The government has created pressure on him (Shamsher) by pouring him into prison, filing false cases against him and seizing his passport. He could not bear the pressure since he was not a seasoned politician,” he said while talking to reporters after placing wreath at the mazar of late President Ziaur Rahman at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar. The BNP leader suggested the ruling party leaders to take care of their own homes instead of enjoying the situation.
He said that Shamsher did not leave the BNP; rather he retired from politics citing his poor health and he would not join any other party.
“Since you (AL leaders) are in power, you may assume that everything is okay, but you should understand how much they are loosing silently. They should care to know it,” he said.
The BNP leader alleged that the ruling party is misleading the people centering on the retirement of Shamsher Mobin Chowdhury.
Asked to pass comments on AL leaders’ claim that more BNP leaders would leave the party, he said AL leaders say whatever they think. If it is their dream, I will call it as day-dream, he added.
Replying to another question, he said BNP does not believe in conspiracy and politics of killings.
Earlier, Jatiyatabadi Ainjibi Forum paid homage to Ziaur Rahman by placing wreath at his mazar and prayed for the salvation of his soul.
Barrister Mahbubuddin Khokan, Sanaullah Miah and Masud Ahmed Talukder, among others, were present on the occasion. – Staff Reporter
