State Minister for Industries Omar Faruk Chowdhury told Parliament on Wednesday.   “We’ve not been able to sell the sugar. We’re trying to sell the sugar and planning to export,” he said in reply to a supplementary question of Mazharul Haque Prodhan (Panchagarh-1).   However, the State Minister, who was answering the question on behalf of Industries Minister Dilip Barua, did not explain why the government failed to sell the sugar in the domestic market and did not say how much sugar remained unsold.   Responding to a question of Hafiz Uddin Ahmed (Thakurgaon-3), Omar Faruk said the reopening of Khulna Newsprint Mills Limited, Chittagong Chemical Complex Limited and North Bengal Papers Mills Limited is under process as per the directives of the present government.   The three mills are operated under the Bangladesh Chemical Industries Corporation (BCIC) of the Industries Ministry. – UNB
