Dhaka – Mahmudullah’s innings of 75 helped Bangladesh score a moderate figure of 238/8 against England in the 2nd ODI of
their three-match series at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on Sunday.The Tigers’ played 50 overs for their collection, spurred by the 8th wicket pair contribution of 69 runs in 8.1 overs between skipper Mashrafe Bin Mortaza and Nasir Hossain. The 8th pair was so far so good with their stormy innings until Mashrafe was fell victim of run out in the innings penultimate delivery at 238/8,UNB News Agency Reported.
Mahmudullah scored team highest 75 off 88 balls, with six boundaries,and was lbw by Adil Rashid leaving team total at 161/6 in 39.4 overs.Besides his individual score, Mahmudullah stayed with Mosaddek Hossain and Mushfiqur Rahim in the 6th and 4th wickets to contribute 48 in 11.4 overs and 50 in 8.5 overs respectively, after suffering order top-order –Imrul Kayes, Tamim Iqbal and Sabbir Rahman — batting collapse in a gradual interval for 39/3 in 13.2 overs.Mashrafe fired two boundaries and three sixes for 44 off 37 balls while Nasir Hossain was unbeaten with run-a-ball 27, including two boundaries.Mosaddek Hossain scored 29 off 49 balls, including four boundaries,and was caught by Moeen Ali off Adil Rashid Bowling at 169/7 in 41.4 overs.Sent in to bat first, Tigers’ faced 1st jolt losing Kayes (11 off 18b; 2×4), was caught by David Willey off Chris Woakes at 25/1 in 6.5 overs. Opener Tamim (14 off 31; 1×4) failed to stay with Sabbir Rahman in the 2nd pair departing at 26/2 in 8.4 overs. Tamim was caught by Moeen Ali off Chris Woakes bowling. Sabbir followed Tamim soon at 39/3 in 13.2 overs as he was bowled out by Jake Ball.Mushfiqur Rahim dismissed for 21off 23 balls, including three boundaries, leaving team total at 9/4 in 22 overs. Mushifiqur was caught by Moeen Al off a Jake Ball delivery. Despite his poor contribution in the match, Mushfiqur added a feather in his ODI career reaching in the 4000-run club scoring 4009 in 163 matches at an average 31.7 runs.Bangladesh touched the 100-run mark in 24.4 overs with a single by Shakib Al Hasan off Adil Rashid’s bowling when Mahmudullah was on 45 runs, but Shakib dismissed at 113/5 in 28 overs.Chris Woakes, Jake Ball and Adil Rashid bagged two wickets each for 40, 44 and 53 runs respectively while Ben Stokes took one for 22 runs.
