Training for paralegals continues in Gaibandha

A basic training for the newly recruited paralegals has been continuing at the Training Centre of a non government organization (NGO) at Kanchipara under Fulchhari upazila in the district since December 22.Friendship, a reputed national NGO in the country, has arranged the 7-day long training for the paralegals at its centre under Good Governance Programme. The objective of the training is to create a space to develop the new professional group to provide their legal support to ensure good governance in the remote chars in Gaibandha and its neighboring Kurigram districts. Advocate Jibanananda Jyonta and Taposhi Rabeya are conducting the training sessions on the specific issues for the participants as resource persons, said project officer Nazmul Hossain.Earlier, Barrister Ayesha Taashin Khan, director of legal and compliance of the organization, formally inaugurated the training programme as the chief guest and head of good governance M. Ahmed Toufiqur Rahman and volunteer from Luxemburg Edouard Leonet were present as the special guests. Barrister Ayesha Tasshin Khan in her inaugural speeches said Friendship has been working for long for the char people with holistic approach and it always believed in innovation and creativity. Based upon the concept, the organization adopted the new strategy to create paralegals so that they could assist the char dwellers in a bid to have access them to the legal support in a more efficient way.
