The government has approved the decision of appointing British firm Redline Aviation Security Limited to train Bangladeshi personnel and supervise security at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport for the next two years.
The cabinet committee on government purchase approved the proposal of hiring the firm in a meeting on Sunday.The meeting was chaired by commerce minister Tofail Ahmed.Civil aviation and tourism minister Rashed Khan Menon on Sunday told Prothom Alo that a deal could be inked between the government and Redline authorities tomorrow (Monday) in this regard.Earlier, ministry sources said it is important to take steps to improve the security of Shahjalal airport and also to provide security for the London-bound flights of Bangladesh Biman by 31 March.Bangladesh and UK agreed on the measures taken to further improve the security standard at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, including acquisition of modern ground handling equipment and increasing the number of security personnel.
