Dhaka – The British government has expressed satisfaction over the improved security measures taken by the Bangladesh government at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, unb news agency reported.
British Prime Minister David Cameron has written back to her Bangladesh counterpart Sheikh Hasina a couple of days back expressing his satisfaction, said a diplomatic source.Earlier in March, the British Prime Minister wrote to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina seeking her initiatives to boost security at the airport.
On March 8, the British government said cargo will not be allowed on direct flights from Dhaka to the UK until further notice adding that recent security assessments of Dhaka International Airport found that some international security requirements were not being met.
In the wake of the British government’s restriction on cargo carriage by Dhaka-London direct flights, the government on March 21 signed a deal with British company, Redline, for screening at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport to ensure security of international standards there.
The Civil Aviation and Tourism Ministry is now expecting withdrawal of the embargo by this month.
