Universities urged become platforms to update technology


Experts have said that as Technology is changing very fast the people with the support of technology are getting upgraded in a dynamic way. They were speaking at the concluding session of two days long programme at the Rajshahi University of Engineering & Technology (RUET) campus.
University can become the platforms by organising innovative events to update not only the students but their country and the world as well.All sophisticated technologies are designed to bring the world to you; phone, radio, television, internet, but if trends continue, robots will soon take you to the world, everywhere, and at the speed of thought, they said.
The experts underscored these at the concluding session & prize giving ceremony of two days long “Robo-Droid Championship-2016” at RUET campus on Friday at 6.00pm, a press release said.
In order to encourage the students to come forward with innovative ideas and prove themselves, IEEE RUET Student unit organised the inter-university competition supported by EMK Centre, Dhaka.
Earlier on Thursday morning acting vice chancellor of RUET Prof. Abdus Sobhan inaugurated the programme at central auditorium.
Prof. Rafiqul Islam Sheikh, dean of Electrical & Computer Science faculty, was the chief guest and coordinator of IEEE RUET unit Prof. Md. Abdul Goffar presided the concluding session and prize giving ceremony on Friday.
Among others, Prof. Anowarul Abedin of Dhaka University of Engineering & Technology (DUET) and representative of Chevron Engineer MA Saki addressed the function as special guests.
Basically the contest divided into three categories Mobile App Contest, Maze Solver Robot Competition and Line follower robot competition.
A total of 52 teams from different public universities took partin it . – RU Correspondent
