The US Pacific and Bangladesh air forces will jointly provide humanitarian help in an exercise in northern Bangladesh from June 1.
The Bangladesh Army, Sri Lanka Air Force, Indian Air Force and different government and non-government organisations will also participate in the “Exercise Pacific Angel 14-1”.According to the ISPR, the six-day exercise would be held in Saidpur, Rangpur and Dinajpur districts where they would mostly offer medical treatment.
Engineers of the combined force would help in renovating and repairing damaged and weak structures of selected school buildings.
The districts had been selected earlier in March by the combined force.
ISPR said an advance team of both forces had reached the venue on Sunday. The 65-member US team would arrive in Bangladesh on May 28.
The Exercise Pacific Angel is a joint and combined humanitarian assistance operation conducted in the Pacific area of responsibility as part of US Pacific Command’s capacity-building efforts.
The US also considers it as a way of improving military-civic cooperation between the US and countries throughout the Asia-Pacific region. – bdnews24.com
