Victory day observed in C’nawabganj


The 44th Victory Day is being observed in a befitting manner in the district today.The day’s programmes started with 31 gun salute and placing wreaths at the foot of the monument of the martyred freedom fighters in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s office. Wreaths were placed at the portrait of father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at Abdul Mannan Sentu Market square. A grand march past participated by police, Ansar, freedom fighters, government orphanage, BNCC, Girl Guides, scouts and cubs of different Organizations, schools, colleges and other socio-cultural organizations were held at the stadium this morning. Deputy Commissioner of Chapainawabganj Mohammad Jahangir Kobir took salute as the chief guest standing on a decorated rostrum. Freedom fighters, injured freedom fighters and families of martyred freedom fighters were accorded reception at Shahid Satu Hall, C’nawabganj. Chapainawabganj District Information Office arranged film show on different development activities of the government through multi-media projector. Chapainawabganj district administration arranged a discussion and a cultural function with participation of different cultural organizations at Horimohon Government High School premises. A three day long “Victory Fair” was inaugurated in the same venue. Besides, discussion meetings, cultural functions, recitation, essay and drawing competitions were held in different places of the town in observance of victory day today. -BSS
