30K more workers to sent in Malaysia in 3 months

Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry on Expatriate Welfare and Overseas Employment on Wednesday expressed the optimism that 30,000 Bangladeshi workers could be sent to Malaysia within next three months after the Eid.The expression was made at a meeting of the committee at Sangsad Bhaban with its chairman Barrister Anisul Islam Mahmud in the chair.
The meeting was informed that as part of the manpower export in Malaysia clean data of 8,391 out of 10,000 has already been sent to concern department of Malaysia after completion of various processes.
The committee also hoped that sending of data of 30,000 workers in Malaysia would be possible by one month and they could be sent there by three months after the Eid-ul-Fitr.
The meeting also discussed the about the progress of changing Iqama of Bangladeshi expatriates in Saudi Arabia.
The meeting was informed that assistance was given to 244,519 illegal expatriates as of July 21 in receiving new passports, renewal of passports, and travel and out passes.
The meeting was also informed that the cabinet committee gave a nod to bring amendment to Expatriate Welfare Fund 2002 law for not to expend money from the fund for school, college and madrasah and holed that the law would be considered in the next session of Parliament.
The committee recommended taking effective measures to resolve the complications to send workers in Malaysia and change illegal Iqama in Saudi Arabia.
Committee members—Minister for Expatriate Welfare and Overseas Employment Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, Jafrul Islam Chowdhury, Md Shahab Uddin, Col (Retd) AA Maruf Saklan and Shahida Tareq Dipti attended the meeting. – Staff Reporter
