3,303 get migration loans from Probashi Kallyan Bank

Probashi Kallyan Bank has provided migration loans to 3,303 people to facilitate them get overseas employments, Finance Minister AMA Muhith told Parliament on Monday.
As of December 31, 2013, the bank disbursed migration loans of Tk 33 crore to 3,303 people after the bank was set up, he said replying to a question of Rahim Ullah (Feni-3).Replying to another question of Tajul Islam (Comilla-9), Muhith said it will not be possible to achieve 7.2 percent GDP, the target set by the government, due to the countrywide violence and damage in the three months ahead of the January-5 parliamentary elections.
Nearly 6.5 per cent GDP might have been achieved in the first half of the current fiscal year (2013-14), he said.
In the last fiscal (2012-13), per capita gross domestic savings was Tk 16,900 and per capita gross national savings was Tk 23,900, said the Finance Minister answering a question of M Abdul Latif (Chittagong-11).
In reply to a question of Nizam Uddina Hazari (Feni-2), he said the 56 scheduled banks have a total of 8,560 branches across the country.
Of them, there are 3,513 branches of four state-owned commercial banks; 1,489 of four state-owned specialized banks; and 3,491 of private banks and 67 of the foreign banks.
So far, 19 banks have introduced mobile financial services (MFS), which is popularly known as mobile banking, Muhith said. – UNB
