Two killed in Jashore train accident

Two people were killed after being hit by a train in Sardar Mill area under Abhaynagar upazila of the district this morning.

One of the deceased was identified as Karunakanta Mondal, 90, a former teacher at Panchbaria Government Primary School in Manirampur upazila and resident of Alipur village of the upazila.

The incident occurred on the Jashore-Khulna railway line around 10 am when two people was hit by the Jashore-bound Rupsha Express train, said SM Nuruzzaman, Officer-in-Charge of Abhaynagar Police Station.

Local residents quickly rushed to the scene and took them to Abhaynagar Upazila Health Complex where they succumbed to their injuries.

Nawapara Railway Station Master Yasir Arafat confirmed the incident, saying that the railway police are now investigating the cause of the accident, reports BSS.
