2 killed in Jashore road crash

Two people were killed and five others injured in Jashore town road accident on Sunday early morning.



Jashore, July 18 :  A collision among a truck, a pick-up van and a car left two people dead and five others injured in Arabpur Dighir Par area in Jashore town Sunday early morning.

The deceased were identified as Abdul Halim, 33, and Jahurul Islam,30.

Witnesses said 12 cattle traders were travelling to Barishal from Jibannagar upazila in Chuadanga on the pick-up van. 

When the pick-up van reached Arabpur Dighi area a speeding truck collided head on with it and then another car hit the backside of the truck, leaving seven pick-up van passengers injured they said.

Informed by the locals, members of Jashore Fire Service and Civil Defense rescued the injured passengers from the scene and sent them to

Dr M Abdur Rashid of emergency department of Jashore General Hospital said two of them died  before reaching  the hospital and two others were admitted to the hospital in critical condition.

Other injured were released after giving first aid, he said.

Officer-in-Charge of Jashore Kotwali police station Tajul Islam said the bodies were sent for an autopsy and an unnatural death case was filed in this connection, reports UNB.
