
The fatalities included three people in Chattogram, five in Gopalganj, and three in Gaibandha. Two people each were killed in Dinajpur, Faridpur, and Patuakhali, while one person each died in Madaripur, Tangail, and Narail.
At least 11 of the victims were motorcyclists, underscoring the growing dangers associated with reckless riding and highway travel during the Eid holidays.
In Faridpur’s Bhanga upazila, two men were killed around 10:30pm on Wednesday when two motorcycles collided head-on.
In Chattogram’s Karnaphuli upazila, three people were killed and at least 30 others injured after an Eagle Paribahan bus collided with a leguna around 9pm. Witnesses alleged that the bus was travelling on the wrong side of the road.
Twelve of the injured were admitted to Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) with critical injuries.
In Gopalganj, five people — including three members of the same family — were killed when a motorcycle crashed into a bus on the Dhaka-Khulna highway near Bedgram bus stand.
Among the victims were Sohag, 40, his pregnant wife, and their six-year-old son. The family was travelling from Dhaka to their ancestral home in Pirojpur to celebrate Eid.
In Gaibandha’s Sundarganj upazila, Maleka Begum, 45, wife of a village veterinary practitioner, was killed after being hit by a speeding motorcycle.
In a separate incident after midnight in the same area, a local leader of the banned Chhatra League and a rickshaw puller were crushed to death by a passenger bus in the Raigram area of the municipality.
