Eight members of the Detective Branch (DB) of police were injured when a microbus carrying them collided head-on with a CNG-run auto-rickshaw in Sreebardi upazila on Wednesday night.

The accident occurred around 8:00pm in the Bharera area on the Sreebardi-Kuruya road.

The DB personnel were reportedly travelling in the microbus for an operation when the crash took place.

Three of the injured officers, who sustained serious injuries, were admitted to the 250-bed Sherpur Sadar Hospital, while others received primary treatment, reports UNB.

Officer-in-Charge(OC) of the District Detective Branch Rezaul Islam Khan said the accident was caused by construction materials being piled up on the road in an unplanned manner.

“The obstruction reduced drivers’ visibility in the darkness, causing the two vehicles to collide,” he added.
