Two workers die days after boiler blast at Rajbari factory

Two workers who suffered severe burn injuries in an alleged boiler blast at a factory in Rajbari's Goalanda upazila died at the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery in Dhaka on Monday, five days after the incident.


The deceased were identified as Sohel Rana, 24, from Gobindaganj upazila of Gaibandha, and Shawon Monda, 16, from Juri upazila of Moulvibazar.

Sohel died around 2:30 am while Shawon succumbed to his injuries at about 11 am, said Officer-in-Charge of Goalanda Ghat Police Station Shafiqul Islam.

According to police and factory sources, a boiler exploded around 10 am on June 25 while the two workers were working in the factory in Paschim Ujanchar of Goalanda, leaving them injured

The factory owner, Bahauddin Bahar, claimed the boiler did not explode.

Goalanda Upazila Nirbahi Officer Sathi Das described the deaths as tragic and said appropriate legal steps would be taken, reports UNB.
